“CRATER LAKE: THE MOST EXCITING HARD-ROCK SCANDIUM PROJECT IN THE WORLD”
– Dr. Anthony Williams-Jones,
Professor in the Earth Science department at McGill University
Scandium Canada Ltd. is currently developing the North America’s largest primary source of scandium, with the aim of contributing to global efforts toward reducing carbon emissions.
The company is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX-V: SCD), has completed a PEA in 2022, has a current mineral resource estimate (2025) and is moving forward with the preparation of a pre-feasibility study for the project.
Located in Nunavik, Quebec, the Crater Lake project covers an area of 47 km², including the TG Zone, one of five mineralized zones identified on the property. In 2022, the company completed a preliminary economic assesment and is currently progressing towards a pre-feasibility study expected in June 2026.
The province of Quebec is a respected mining jurisdiction that values environmental stewardship and the well-being of local and First Nations communities. Scandium Canada’s flagship Crater Lake project is located 200 km northeast of Schefferville, within a region that includes the commun interest territories of the Naskapi First Nation and Inuit. Scandium Canada common recognizes that the First Nations communities and the Innus commitees on the territory have aboriginal and treaty rights.
Scalium+ develops and commercializes advanced aluminum-scandium alloys and technologies designed to make high-performance products lighter, stronger, and more sustainable. Its Scalium® materials are available as rolled products, metal powders for additive manufacturing, and welding wires for WAAM applications, serving sectors such as aerospace, space, automotive, sports equipment, energy, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.
We are now producing :
Scalium®
Powder
3D Printing & Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Our AA535 and AA7075 powders eliminate microcracking in high-strength alloys during Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), with relative densities above 99% and UTS of 330–380 MPa. They are currently in qualification testing with advanced-manufacturing end users.
Scalium® Rolled Products
From skis to airplanes to satellites, our patent-pending ultra-high-strength aluminium-scandium alloys (Scalium®) in rolled products, enables lighter structures and stronger components in high-stress applications, empowering breakthrough designs with a sustainable approach.
Scalium® alloys can reach a UTS of over 700 MPa while still offering excellent ductility (8 to 12%).
Scalium® Welding Wires
Welding Wire & WAAM Manufacturing: Our AA7075 specialized aluminum-scandium wires for welding and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) are currently in qualification testing with advanced-manufacturing end users.
